I’ll admit, I only ever buy chicken legs when they’re on sale. Even though I prefer dark meat, I really only buy chicken thighs. Chicken thighs are the most versatile and satisfying in my experience. Recently though, chicken thighs seem to be increasing in popularity and many times when I go to buy a pack, the store is out! I did however notice chicken legs were on sale for super cheap! So this time I took advantage of the drumsticks and put them in my cart without even thinking what I would make. After developing this recipe I certainly reach for drumsticks more often.
Turmeric Is Great On Chicken
A few hours after leaving the grocery store, I was gathering some spices because I wanted to marinate the chicken overnight for dinner the next day. My initial plan was to make paprika chicken. Well, to my surprise I must have used all my paprika and forgot to add it to my grocery list because I was all out!!! I was definitely annoyed with myself considering I just left the grocery store.
So I took to rummaging through my spice cabinet. After some digging I landed on a jar of turmeric! I instantly loved the idea and this recipe was born! Turmeric is a spice that doesn’t get enough love! It has a bright golden color and has a mild earthy sweet flavor.
Your Turmeric Makes A Difference
The key to this chicken coming out delicious is the quality of your turmeric! Turmeric is one of those spice I wouldn’t recommend you buy for super cheap. If you think your turmeric has a bitter flavor, that can just be from the quality being on the lower side. Since Turmeric is mild in flavor, a good quality brand is worth the investment since you really want it to shine here. Check the ingredients to make sure you are purchasing only turmeric. Anti-caking agents are a big no. Here are a few brands I recommend:
None of these are sponsored! These are just a few the brands I love and use in my own kitchen. Each brand offers an organic and non-organic option to better suit all budgets! Please feel free to use whatever brand of turmeric you like! I’m currently loving the Organic Turmeric from ALDI. I wish I could link it for you, but it’s not available on their website currently. If you have a brand you’d like to share with me, please do!!! Just leave me a comment I’m always looking to try different brands to see what’s out there
No matter which turmeric you decide to use, I hope you make and love this recipe! If you make these Turmeric Baked Chicken Drumsticks don’t forget to leave comment down below and let me know what you think!
